Throughout high school and my first year of college I was continuously asked what job you wanted to have in life. It was so annoying for those 2-3 years being asked so frequently and not having a definitive answer. Well I knew some of the things I didn’t want to do; I didn’t want to write papers or articles, I didn’t want to speak to large groups. I also knew what things I did want to do, I wanted to interact with people one-on-one, I knew I wanted to do something in healthcare, and I liked how rewarding it is to help people. These desires combined with my enjoyment of sports and exercising and a little career exploration and voila! I had learned that I should become a physical therapist, it met all of the essential needs I had for a career. It took me a while to make a decision but I am thrilled with where I am at and career I have chosen. I am further continually amazed at the body’s ability to sustain damage and trauma and be rehabilitated/remodeled.
1. What takes up your time outside of work?
Generally I love playing or competing in most sports but currently golf is what I spend the most time doing. Being back in an upbeat city like Milwaukee I look to get back into playing more volleyball and other active hobbies both recreationally and competitively.
2. Name one thing you miss about being a kid?
I definitely miss the amount of time you have available to play games, take naps and hang out with friends. I grew up living across the street from a park so at any time we had a group of 5-15 friends available to play games.
3. What is your all-time favorite book or movie?
Wedding Crashers, that movie still cracks me up with all the one liners it has.
4. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I’ve done some backpacking around Europe just over a year ago which was awesome but the next place on my vacation list is Australia. I think the draw for me is the combination of the wildlife, geographic features and Aussie accents!
5. What is your hidden talent?
I’m not so sure I have any overly unique hidden talents. A few things that maybe rare is my ability to jump rope my leg like Vanilla Ice, do the worm and probably most beneficial in life is my ability to memorize useless knowledge/words such as the verses of Nicki Minaj’s super bass.
6. What is your all-time favorite food?
I’ve never been much of a sweets person believe it or not. I’d much prefer a second main course of any meal but I particularly love stir fry or a good hearty burrito (Qdoba, etc).
