Hello and Happy New Year!

Have you decided to make this your year? The year to finally get into shape or kick up your fitness routine. Aside from the best option of hiring a personal trainer, here’s another way to jump start your year. A burst of new fitness gadgets have recently been introduced into the health industry and they far surpass the technology of classic pedometers. Do your research, purchase one that best fits your needs, and pair this with hiring a trainer, so you are guaranteed to achieve success!

Here are my top 3 picks among the plethora that are out there:

Number 3:

Nike+ Fuelband SE ($149)
Positives:
Tracks Steps, Calories, and Sleep
Water-resistant to sweat, and shower
Comfortable to wear during most athletic activity
Negatives:
Uncomfortable to wear during daily activities such as typing at a desk
Non-compatible with Android

Number 2:

FitBit Flex ($99)
Positives:
Tracks Steps, Calories, and Sleep
Water-resistant to sweat, and shower
Comfortable to wear during both athletic activity and during sleep
Compatible with both iOS and Android
Negatives:
Although it’s compatible with both iOS and Android, I found it difficult to set up and sync on a client’s Samsung Galaxy III phone and PC (but that may be because I am an iPhone user)
There is a tiny piece you need to take out of the bracelet to plug in and sync… easy to lose track of

And the winner is:

Number 1:

Jawbone UP ($129) or Jawbone Up24 ($149.99)
Positives:
Tracks Steps, Calories, and Sleep
Water-resistant to sweat, and shower
Comfortable to wear during both athletic activity and during sleep
Blue-tooth (automatic syncing with the Up24)
Compatible with both iOS and Android
Goal tracking
Food tracking
Easy to set up, easy to charge, and easy to plug in.
Easy to read charts on your phone to measure progress
Negatives:
I have yet to find any!

Please keep in mind this has only been my personal experience and simple opinion of these three activity trackers. There are many more on the market and the only bad activity tracker out there is the one sitting in a box and not purchased by you! Get out there and get moving!
